Eileen Pollack. The Bris.

An dying father confesses to his son that he lived a life pretending to be Jewish.  He asks the son to arrange a circumcision before his death, a task which the son struggles to understand and carry out.  The story felt overwritten in places to me, but the central premise was fascinating.
